Dura-Stain is a durable, water repellent, color stain designed to protect and beautify both exterior and interior concrete surfaces. This silicon/acrylic formula was created with high performance 100% acrylic resins which form a tough long-wearing film on properly prepared surfaces.

Use On: Exterior or interior properly prepared walls, basements, patios, sidewalks, driveways, garage floors, pool decks, tennis courts, cement blocks, pillars and bricks.

Driveways & Garage Floors

The composition of concrete varies; therefore, the lack of proper surface preparation or over-application of the stain can lead to automobile tires lifting the product from the surface.

Following all precautionary statements does not eliminate the possibility of maintenance recoating due to "hot tire pick-up".

Light and pastel colored concrete stains may be used over pool decks surfaces. Dark Colors retain heat therefore they are not recommended.

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is essential for penetration of the stain. The Surface must be clean and open prior to staining.

New Concrete:

Must cure for a minimum of 2 days.
Acid etch using a 1:4 solution of muriatic acid  to water or a diluted solution (follow manufacture's directions) of sulfamic acid.
Wear appropriate eye, skin and apparel protection when applying etching solution
Protect plants and other surfaces from splashing.
Work etching solution into surface with a  stiff bristle broom.
Allow muriatic solution to remain on surface no more that 5 minutes; sulfamic solution for no more that 10 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with clear water and allow to dry.
Sweep and/or Vacuum all residue left from etching process.

Aged Concrete:

Remove all dirt, grease and oil with a cleaner or degreaser. Follow manufacture's direction.
Rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry.
Smooth concrete surfaces must be properly etched.
Follow etching instructions under "New Concrete".

Painted, Stained or Sealed Concrete:

De-gloss or strip the entire old surface using an appropriate method.
For best results, follow all stems under "New Concrete" for acid etching.

Application

Allow all concrete surfaces to dry completely before applying stain. Stain will not adhere to or penetrate on a wet surface.
When working with more than one container of the same color, inter-mix to ensure uniformity.
Stir stain before and occasionally during application.
Use product when temperature is between 50°F - 80°F
Avoid applying stain in direct sunlight or to "hot" surfaces.
Apply a thin even coat using a 1/4" = 3/8" nap roller cover or nylon polyester brush.

Coverage

Apply stain with long even strokes in one direction.
Concrete varies in porosity therefore two coats may be required for uniform color appearance. Wait 24 hours before determining or applying a second coat. If a second coat is needed, apply in a cross direction of the first coat.

Dry Time

Allow 24 hours before recoating or subject to light foot traffic.
Allow 72 hours before subjecting stained surface to automobile tires.
Park Tire on corrugated cardboard for 14 days after applying stain.
Allow all newly stained surface to dry 72 hours before repositioning objects such as planter boxes and furniture.

Clean Up

Soap and water.
After two weeks, dry stained surface may be cleaned with a nonabrasive household detergent.
For disposal of empty containers and unused stain, contact your household refuse collection service.

DO NOT USE WITH OUT THE ADDITION OF TINTING COLORANTS.
